About the course

Course content

Introduction to electrochemistry and corrosion theory. Mechanisms of concrete damages. Inspection and control of concrete structures - both field and laboratory methods. Maintenance and repair of structures subject to reinforcement corrosion.

Learning outcome

The course gives information about maintenance and repair of concrete structures - especially focused on corrosion of embedded steel. A thourough introduction are presented to the electrochemical principles both for corrosion of reinforcing steel and to the use of electrochemical methods for mainentance or repair of concrete structures.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group work.
One literature survey with a written report.The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegain take teh course.
