Course - Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics - KT8211
Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2010/2011
About
About the course
Course content
The course covers description and modelling of the dynamic properties of structures, methods for the calculation of dynamic response in time and frequency domain, analysis of free vibrations, and dynamic stability. A short presentation of wave propagation related to structure and foundation interaction is included. For the calculation of dynamic response induced by randomly distributed loads stochastic methods are presented. Applications will be taken from wind and earthquake engineering, as well as impact and explosion type of events.
Learning outcome
The purpose of the course is to provide insight into advanced methods of structural dynamics.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and exercises. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
Recommended previous knowledge
Knowledge of structural dynamics similar to that which has been covered in TKT4201 Structural dynamics is taken for granted.
Course materials
Lecture notes and journal papers. Textbook covers parts of the subject.
