About the course
Course content
The course covers Norwegian and European architecture from Antiquity to the Middle Ages (approx. 700 B.C. - A.D 1500), including theoretical and methodical approaches related to this period.
Learning outcome
The course provides an introduction to the architecture and visual art of the Antiquity and the Middle Ages - set in a historic frame of reference. In addition, insight is provided into relevant academic history, method and theory.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and group instructions.
Required work: One written assignment of about 2000 - 2500 words must be approved before the student is eligible for final assessment.
More on assessment: The final assessment is based on a one-week take-home examination in 4000 - 5000 words. The examination is given a letter grade.
Students are required to check the results of their assignments on the department's bulletin boards.
Students are also required to keep updated on relevant information from the department or course director via It's learning, Innsida, course web pages or the department's bulletin boards.
