About the course

Course content

The course provides an overview over the most familiar directions in modern and recent art historical thought. The student will also be introduced to the practical application of art historical methods.

Learning outcome

The purpose is to make the student familiar with essential art historical theory and method as well as the most common approaches to ancient and modern art.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group instructions.

Compulsory assignment:
One written assignment of about 2000 - 2500 words must be approved before the student is eligible for final assessment.

More on assessment:
The final assessment is based on a letter-graded three days take-home examination in 3500-4000 words.

Students are required to check the results of their assignments on the department's bulletin boards. Students are also required to keep updated on relevant information from the department or course director via It's learning, Innsida, course web pages or the department's bulletin boards.
