Course content
The course aims at giving a basic introduction to theory and to the most important practical questions in building conservation.
Learning outcome
After completed course the students should
- be able to apply general conservation theory on building conservation
- be able to discuss the conservation value in single buildings and building environments on the basis of general conservation criteria
- have basic knowledge in the history of Norwegian build up environment and building conservation
- have knowledge of the laws and regulations being the foundation of the public building conservation in Norway
- have knowledge of basic terminology on buildings and carpentry
- have basic insight in building measuring

Lectures, seminars, excursions.
Compulsory assignments
- One project work
Recommended previous knowledge
The indtroductory course in Cultural Heritage Management (KULMI1000) is recommended, but no neccessary prequalification.
Required previous knowledge
No mandatory prequalification.
Course materials
In addition to a given reading list material in connection to excursions, varying from term to term, will be distributed.
