About the course
Course content
The course will present theories of innovation, technological development, production of knowledge and research from a STS (science and technology studies) perspective. These areas have great influence upon modern societies, and involve political, ethical and governmental questions. The course will be concentrated on the following issues:
*Innovation: different cultures and models of innovation
*The relation between technology and society
*Knowledge management and knowledge work
*Scientific and political controversies
Learning outcome
Students will learn to analyze various aspects of technology, innovation, knowledge and policy. This will give the student (as a future expert/knowledge worker), a theoretical basis in handling challenges concerning knowledge management and technological development
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, term papers and supervised study groups. Participation in the study groups is compulsory. Assessment is based on a term paper.
