Course content
Topics included are functions of several real variables, partial differentiation, directional derivative, gradient, extremal problem and Lagranges multiplier method. Other topics discussed are multiple integrals, line and surface integrals, with examples from applications. Furthermore, the course includes vector valued functions, divergence and curl of vector fields, the notion of flux, Greens, Stokes and Gauss theorems, with examples of applications on.
Learning outcome
The aim of this course is to introduce concepts and methods in the theory of functions of several variables and their applications.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and compulsory exercises. The assessment of the student is given through a written final examination by the letter grading system.

Recommended previous knowledge
MA1101 Basic calculus I, MA1201 Linear algebra and geometry. This course should be taken parallel to or after MA1102 Basic calculus II.
