About
About the course
Course content
The course introduces and treats research in mathematical didactics (research topics, problems, central issues and theories, methods, results) with special emphasis on teaching mathematics and mathematical learning in middle (ungdomsskole) and secondary (videregående) school.
Learning outcome
The course aims at giving the student an insight in and overview of the mathematical didactical research area. An important goal is to make the student able to read research literature with critical and reflected manner. The students are also given the opportunity to specialize in selected topics.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, literature study seminars and written assignments. Oral presentation of selected work in mathematical didactics.
Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade awarded in the course. This portfolio comprises written assignment 1 (20%) and written assignment 2 (80%). Written assignment 1 only counts if it has a positive effect on the total assessment. Both assigments and grade for the whole portfolio (course grade) is given by the letter grading system.
