Course - Homological Algebra - MA3204
Homological Algebra
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2010/2011
About
About the course
Course content
The content of the course may vary, but the core will include categories of modules, the functors Hom and tensor product, free, projective, injective and flat resolutions, direct and inverse limits, projective, injective and flat dimension, homology and the functors Ext and Tor. The course will be lectured every second year, next time Fall 2011.
Learning outcome
The course gives the theoretical base for the use of
homological methods in module categories over rings with
special emphasis on the homological functors Ext and Tor.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures. The lectures will be given in English if they are attended by students from the Master's Programme in Mathematics for International students.
Recommended previous knowledge
The course is based on MA3201 Rings and modules and MA3202 Galois theory, or equivalent.
Course materials
Will be announced at the start of the course.
