About the course

Course content

The first part of this course focuses on the brain and central nervous system. The students are taught how these systems work, and some psychiatric functions are included. The functions and anatomy of the eye, ear and vocal chords are also subjects in this semester. "Growth and development" is an important subject in the first semester. This includes conception, embryology, birth, infant and juvenile development, aging process and death. Genetics and pelvic anatomy are taught in the first semester. Lectures on ethics and statistics are included.
The second semester starts with continuation of microbiology. Then follows immunology, endocrinology, nephrology, environmental medicine, toxicology and pharmacology. The last part of the semester is devoted to pathology.

Problem-based learning (PBL), lectures (basal and clinical), courses, seminars, examination and communication courses, visits to general practitioners.
