About the course

Course content

This course provides insight into the technological requirements of digital audiovisual media with an emphasis on how the development of new technology has created a basis for new types of expression as well as new arenas of collaboration and exposure. There will be a focus on the historical development of media technology and on contemporary audiovisual forms of expression.




Learning outcome

The course will provide insight into the development of media technology, as well as provide approaches to understanding contemporary audiovisual media products.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, seminars and practical exercises.

Course requirements:
One compulsory assignment must be approved before the students are eligible for final assessment.

More on the form of assessment:
The final assessment is based on an 8-10 page written assignment. The topic of this written assignment is chosen in collaboration with the instructor.

Students are required to be familiar with the results of the practical exercises posted on the department's bulletin board.

Students are required to keep posted on relevant messages from the department or the teacher at It's learning and Innsida, alternatively at course web pages or bulletin boards.

Bachelor's degree in Media Production or Media Studies. Admission to the Master's programme in Media Production or Media, Communication and Information Technology.
