About

About the course

Course content

The Master's thesis consists of two parts. The first is usually a shorter dissertation (40-60 pages) demonstrating the candidate's ability to work independently and in a scholarly manner in his or her field. The second is a media production demonstrating the candidate's command of more comprehensive production formats than the ones found at the Bachelor's level. The topic of the Master's thesis must be approved by the end of the first semester on the basis of a project description, which will also determine which academic tutor will be assigned to the student. Usually the topic of the theoretical part will be connected to the production.

Learning outcome

The ability to realize a larger independent work in film studies, as well as a large-scale media production.

Learning methods and activities

Individual tutoring, exercises and tutoring seminars.

More on the form of assessment:
The deadline for submitting the Master's thesis for assessment is 15.11 or 15.05. In the final assessment, the dissertation and the media production are awarded separate grades. The two parts are weighted equally and adjusted via an oral examination. The oral examination consists of a public presentation of the thesis that should last approximately 30 minutes and a succeeding discussion of the thesis with a group of sensors.
