Course - Metallurgical Modelling of Welding - MT8205
Metallurgical Modelling of Welding
About
About the course
Course content
The course is given every second year, next time will be autumn 2010.
A novel approach to the modelling of chemical, structural and mechanical changes in weldments is undertaken, both ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The models treated are based on sound physical principles, but are simplified to an extent which make them quick and easy to implement and accessible to potential industry users. Due to their generic nature, many of the models can be generalised to a wide range of materials and thermal processing, e.g. welding, laser surfacing, extrusion, hot forming and industrial heat treatment.
Learning outcome
Reach a high international level within the chosen field of specialisation
Learning methods and activities
As part of the course, a special project assignment will be given on a selected topic. The project work will be evaluated and marked.
