About the course

Course content

The course intends to present new, relevant and advanced topics within modern materials science and engineering. The selection of topics will depend on the candidates. The course will be based on new original literature and will require an active participation from the candidates.

Learning outcome

The students shall after having finished the course and passed the exam have extensive insight and knowledge about selected topics in materials science and engineering covered by the course and being able to use this knowledge to discuss and analyse relevant problems connected to these topics.

Learning methods and activities

The course normally requires that at least three candidates in collaboration with one or more professors define a suitable joint syllabus (to be approved by the Board of Reserach at the NT-faculty).
The teaching will be a combination of lectures, colloquia and a self-studies. The course should not function as an “Individual Study Syllabus”. The curriculum and examination date should be the same for all simultaneous candidates.
