About the course

Course content

The course is given every second year, next time will be spring 2012.
Topics to be covered are:
Powder synthesis/characterization.
Surface/colloidal chemistry related to ceramics processing.
Diffusion, grain growth and development of microstructure in condensed matter.
Sintering: solid state and liquid phase.
Relation between micro/nanostructure and properties.

Learning outcome

The students that have passed the exam in this course should have a deep understanding of selected topics in ceramics processing and should also be able to use this knowledge on own research problems.

Learning methods and activities

The teaching is based on study groups.
Voluntary exercises. If there are many students the examination form might be changed to written exam.
