About the course

Course content

The course is given every second year, next time will be autumn 2010. Thermodynamics of defects in ionic solids, phase diagrams and phase stability, surfaces, interfaces and adsorption, trends in enthalpy of formation of inorganic solids, heat capacity and entropy, atomistic models for solutions, theoretical calculation of thermodynamic data

Learning outcome

The subject aims to give the students knowledge in advanced chemical thermodynamics applied on materials. Subjects to be focus on are phase stability, effect of surfaces and interfaces, atomistic models for solutions and theoretical methods for calculation of thermodynamic data.
