Thermodynamics of Materials
About
About the course
Course content
The course is given every second year, next time will be autumn 2010. Thermodynamics of defects in ionic solids, phase diagrams and phase stability, surfaces, interfaces and adsorption, trends in enthalpy of formation of inorganic solids, heat capacity and entropy, atomistic models for solutions, theoretical calculation of thermodynamic data
Learning outcome
The subject aims to give the students knowledge in advanced chemical thermodynamics applied on materials. Subjects to be focus on are phase stability, effect of surfaces and interfaces, atomistic models for solutions and theoretical methods for calculation of thermodynamic data.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, seminars and self study.
