About the course
Course content
The course is given every second year, next time will be autumn 2011/spring 2012.
The course covers solid state chemistry in a broad manner with emphasis on fundamental concepts and inorganic materials. Subjects covered are:
Bounding and structure in solids, phase transitions, defects and nonstoichiometry, relationships between structure and electronic, magnetic and optical properties.
Learning methods and activities
The teaching is based on study groups and a project work.
Recommended previous knowledge
The course is based on knowledge in Solid State Physics/Chemistry and Inorganic chemistry.
