About the course

Course content

The course is mainly an independent study and the student must participate in performing projects. In addition the student must participate as a soloist or with chamber-music in a minimum of two public concerts, including one concert organised by Department of music.

Course in Physiology:
The course includes hygiene, physiology, performance preparations, prevention of impact damages, and exercises in relaxation and concentration as well as warm-up exercises.

Learning outcome

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to perform and communicate music on an advanced level both as a soloist and as a part of various ensembles.

Learning methods and activities


Individual tutoring - 1 lesson a week for 27 weeks.
Interpretation - 2 group lessons for 20 weeks.
Ensemble - 2 group lessons for 10 weeks.
(Interpretation and ensemble instruction may be rearranged.)
Accompaniment (described in the introduction).
Project - various forms of instruction.

Compulsory course in Physiology:
Individual lessons, lectures and groups - 27 weeks in total.
Assessment: Pass/fail based on participation in compulsory instruction.

Required previous knowledge

Requires admission to the Bachelor's programme in Music Performance Studies.
