About the course

Course content

Individual lectures and independent work on the instrument.
In addition, the student must participate as a soloist or with chamber-music in a minimum of three public concerts, including one concert organised by Department of music.

Learning outcome

The course aim is, as with Principal Instrument A, B, and C, to be able to perform and communicate music at an advanced level, both as a solo artist and as a part of various ensembles. Here the requirements are increased with respect to skills and the level of interpretation.

Learning methods and activities

Individual tutoring - 1 lesson a week for 27 weeks.
Interpretation - 2 group lessons for 20 weeks.
Ensemble - 2 group lessons for 10 weeks.
Interpretation and ensemble offerings may be rearranged.
Accompaniment.
Project - various forms of instruction.

A list of the student's studied repertoire from all 4 years of study and program for the examination concert must be submitted for academic approval prior to April 1st.
The examination will normaly have a duration corresponding to a recital/solo concert, 40 - 60 minutes, depending on the instrument/vocals.
Program for the examination concert and the studied repertoire must be delivered before April 1st.

Compulsory assignments

  • Studied repertoire minimum 300 minutes
  • Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Musikk, utøvende (BMUSP)

Required previous knowledge

Requires passed MUSP4130 or corresponding course.
