About

About the course

Course content

The course consists of conducting and technique (15 to 20 lessons) instruction and ensemble methods (6-10 lessons), repertoire and history (3-4 lessons), instrument and ensemble (3-4 lessons), organizing ensembles, social functions etc. Instruction will be provided partly as weekly group lessons (in periods), partly as intensive periods of study (evenings and weekends), and partly as individual tutoring in connection with practical conducting in the students own ensembles. Other courses external to NTNU may be included as appropriate, for example the conductor’s symposium of The Norwegian Band Federation. Information about this will be provided at the start of the semester.

In collaboration with the academic leader, each individual student will decide on a listening program that mirrors the individual needs and desires of the student. The student must be in charge of an ensemble for practical instruction (choir, marching band, orchestra etc.)
