About the course
Course content
The subject encompasses arrangements of works by the student and other composers and composition of the student's own works. Music theory, analyses of musical works and styles form the basis of the student's own composing and arranging. Teaching of form, melody, harmony and orchestration are essential. The main focus is on the student's own production.
Learning outcome
The subject aims to strengthen the student's skills and knowledge in composition and arranging and the students individual artistic profile.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures in form and analyses of musical works and styles, melody and harmony and orchestration. Performances of the student's own works form the basis for individual tutoring.
Instruction: Lectures - 1 lesson a week for 24 weeks.
Tutoring: 0.5 lesson a week for 24 weeks.
Assessment: The portfolio shall contain arrangements/compositions in recorded and/or score form. The number of works will vary, depending on the the compositions/arrangements.
Compulsory assignments
- Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction.
