Course content
The student should acquire skills in and knowledge of liturgical playing and organ improvisation. This involves skills required for sermon playing, knowledge and understanding of the particular features of congregation singing, and exercise in improvisational skills needed for liturgical organ playing, such as modulation, transposition, simple intonations and extempore harmonisation.
Course in Liturgics/Hymnology A will provide students with knowledge of the history of liturgic development, insight and understanding of different aspects of contemporary church and sermon basics, and a basic introduction to psalm and choral history.
Learning outcome
The student should acquire basic skills in and knowledge of liturgical playing and organ improvisation. In addition, the course involves a study of the development of liturgic history, psalm- and choral history and a knowledge and reflection on various basic aspects and ideas related to the Norwegian church and church services.
Learning methods and activities
Liturgical playing:Group instruction - 1 hour pr. week.
Organ improvisation: Group instruction - 1 hour pr. week.
Course in Liturgics/Hymnology A: Lessons- 1 hour pr. week.

- Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction

Required previous knowledge
Requires passed MUSP4521 or corresponding course.
