About the course

Course content

The students elaborate their conducting technique, ensemble management skills and knowledge of repertoire. The students should participate in at least one project, in which they will instruct a choir/ensemble in a church musical work of significance.
Course in Singing as supporting instrument:
The course should provide the students with a further knowledge to rational and correct voicing for speaking and singing, in relation to various job functions, such as choral instruction, management of congregation- and community singing, etc.

Learning outcome

The students will trough further specialization be able to conduct church musical works that are of a more complex nature.

Learning methods and activities

Groups - 2 hours pr. week for 27 weeks.
Attendance in the Department of Music's church choir for 2 hours a week.
Final examination shold be about 30 minutes, including the rehearsal of an unknown piece of work with a 48-hour preparation.
Course in Singing as supporting instrument- 0,5 hours per week for 27 weeks.

Compulsory assignments

  • Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction
  • Compulsory singing in the Department´s church choire 2 hours per week
  • Singing as supporting instrumen

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Musikk, utøvende (BMUSP)

Required previous knowledge

Completed MUSP4535 or corresponding course.
