About the course

Course content

Through own experience, science and pedagogical methods, the students will extend their knowledge about what factors that influence the health of the voice, level of achievement and the mastering of stress factors. The subject is based on international science and development in the scientific field of voice physiology, voice acoustics and voice therapy.

Learning outcome

This subject is an introduction to how the voice is functioning in a professional context, that is on the opera scene, concert stage and similar.

Learning methods and activities

20 lessons in a group. Teamwork. Theoretical curriculum consists of 200 pages. Practical exercises: testing the resonance capacity of the voice, examine the functions of the voice with Voce Vista, ultrasound, EMG.

Work: 3 homework written tasks, based on the subjects in The Professional Voice. Extension pr task: ca 2 A-4 pages in normal size. The papers should be given in a personal form and language, with references to scientific articles, manuals and publications.

  • Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Musikk, utøvende (MMUSP)

Required previous knowledge

Passed MUSP4130 or similar.
