About the course
Course content
The course is comprised of the following main elements: An introduction to music and computer science (e.g. digitalisation and the processing of acoustic information and sound, protocols for digital transmission and storage). Basic Acoustics. Computer-assisted arranging/composition. An introduction to computer-based techniques for recording and work with sound.
Learning outcome
The course should provide the student with a basic theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the possibilities and limitations of music and information technology.
Learning methods and activities
Practicallly adapted lectures: 2 hours per week for 12 weeks during autumn and 13 weeks during spring. Compulsory lectures. Group instruction and exercises. Each semester 10 exercises will be given, of which 7 must be delivered in time and approved in order to take the final examination.
Assessment: One week home examination where the students produce a CD with an accompanying written report.

Basic music- and computer skills.
Required previous knowledge
Admission to the Bachelor's programme in Music Technology.
The course has restricted admission.
