Course content
The course involves a basic introduction to musical arranging and composition in which the use of MIDI technology and studio work is included. Compulsory assignments must be submitted during the course, ending with a larger arrangement/composition.
Learning outcome
The main objective of the course is to provide students with a basic introduction to arrangement and composition for smaller ensembles. This will enable them to solve arrangement and composition problems. There is a focus on the ability to master traditional techniques of arrangement and basic knowledge of instrumentation. At the same time, the student is allowed to use the tradition and style of the music from her/his background, in the final arrangement/composition.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures: 2 hours per week for 13 weeks. Group instruction. The instruction is compulsory.
Assessment: 7 assignments must be passed before the student is allowed to take the final examination. The final examination is evaluated with a letter grade.

Musikkteknologi (BMUST)
Required previous knowledge
Admission to the Bachelor's programme in Music Technology.
The course has restricted admission.
