About the course

Course content

The course is comprised of these main elements: Algorithmic composition and advanced sound treatment technics. Performance-oriented software, interactive use of music technology, live electronics. The aspect of creativity is challenged through collaborative composition tasks.



Learning outcome

This course should provide the student with an insight into central aspects of music technology application for the performing musician and composer. It will contribute to an individual development of personal abilities for creative and performing use of music technology. The development of student creativity, joy of creating and reflection is central in this subject.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures: 2 hours per week for 13 weeks. Group instruction and exercises.
Exercises will be practical composition tasks related to the lectures given.
Assessment: Home examination. The students shall produce a CD and an accompanying written explanation.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Musikkteknologi (BMUST)

Required previous knowledge

Admission to the Bachelor's programme in Music Technology. Passed MUST1052, MUST1053 and IT1103.

The course has restricted admission.
