About the course

Course content

Train the students' ability to listen analytically to music from various musical styles. Provide insight in genres and directions in electro-acoustic music, and relate this knowledge to trends within the arts and the society. Discuss how various technological tools impose conditions for creative activity and production and also for distribution and consumption of music.

Learning outcome

The course should stimulate to reflection and discussion of various musical expressions, and show how these can be placed in a cross-aesthetic and historical context where music and technology are seen as interactive components.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures: 2 hours per week for 12 weeks. Exercises.
