About

About the course

Course content

The course is a continuation of Techniques of Tonal Harmony and Harmonic Analysis I, and comprises an introduction to harmonization from late Baroque and till our time.

The course provides an introduction to traditional techniques of tonal harmony, and will expand the student's chord repertoire and harmonic understanding. This is done in combination with the student's own musical preferences. The exercises emphasize writing for choir. These exercises, in addition to a final recording in the studio, constitute the portfolio.

The course in basic music technology provides an introduction to basic sound theory, hard disc recording, sound editing, microphone choice, studio work, and sound aesthetics.

Learning outcome

The main objective is to show how the harmonic element has developed from late Baroque till today. This is achieved through harmonization exercises and the analysis of a selected body of work from the relevant periods.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and group instruction. The instruction is compulsory.

Basic Music Technology B continues the corresponding component in MUSV1017: Instruction: 2 h. pr. week for 5 weeks. Assessment: approved/not approved based on written exercises and participation in compulsory instruction.
