About

About the course

Course content

The topic can be from all parts of musicology, such as ethnomusicology, folk music, popular music, music in movies, history of music, music pedagogy and so forth. The topics offered will vary from semester to semester. Even if the topics offered vary, course codes can only be used once. Students who register for a course in which they have already passed the final examination, will thereby register for a retake of an already passed examination, regardless of the valid syllabus/reading list.

Learning outcome

The objective is to provide the student with a deeper insight into one defined area of musicology.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and a syllabus, both for reading and for analysis, combined with practical exercises where this is relevant for the content and focus of the course. Note: An attachment to the examination registration that details the topic for the specialisation must be submitted to the Department (same deadline as the examination registration). Forms are available at the Department. Assessment: Due to work with music scores/listening examples, the examination will last for 6 hours.

Required previous knowledge

MUSV1011 and MUSV1012 and MUSV1014 or equivalent courses.
