About

About the course

Course content

Students who have previously taken exams in all available course codes for language courses at intermediate (2000-) level, but who wish to have yet another language course may use the code NORD2205 for this purpose. The student follows the lectures and curriculum of the course they want to follow, and uses the code NORD2205 only as exam code.

The department will, when possible, offer additional in-depth studies. The department will generate a reading list and offer teaching in the topic. Students may also compose their own reading lists on language topics they have chosen themselves. The reading list is to be approved by the department. Contact us for more details.

Learning outcome

The course aims at giving the students insight in a quantitatively defined language topic based on a competence in language and theory.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures/group work with paper writing. Supervision will be offered during the course of the semester. Obligatory activity: Approved list of set reading and, sometimes, approved exercises (max. 5 pages each) depending on the curriculum. Assessment: Final, written test (4 hours) or term paper with supervision (8 - 10 pages) and oral test (30 minutes) If the student choose an assessment that includes several components, each of the components must be passed in order to acheive passing grade in the course. Each component is equal, and in such cases, there will be one grade for the entire course. All components must be passed within the same semester, which means that individual assessment cannot be transferred to another semester. Depending on the topic, various aids may be allowed at the written exam.
