About the course
Course content
The aim of the course is to promote knowledge about central theories in counselling, based on existential-humanistic, cognitive-behavioural and psycho-dynamic perspectives. The focus will be on an individually based counselling perspective with group and environmental variables as background. Teaching is both theoretical and practical.
Learning outcome
This course will give students an introduction to and reflection on basic counselling perspectives. It will enable students to understand the range of possible perspectives and to clarify their own theoretical and methodological stance, preferences and developmental goals.
Learning methods and activities
4 hours of lectures per week, 1 hour seminar per week.
Form of assessment: 6-hour individual written exam.

Required previous knowledge
Passed exams in 3 of the following: PED1001, PED1002, PED1003 or PED1004. OR the same admission requirements as for the masters program in counselling or the masters program in adult learning.
