About the course

Course content

The course goes into important national educational reforms after 1945, their ideological basis, content and realization. The national educational reforms analyzes in an ideological, political and societal context, national as well as international.

The government of education will be an important topic. This implies an identification and analysis of individuals, governmental principles and governmental strategies in the educational political reform work. Also international influence on Norwegian Education Policy is included in this.

Learning outcome

The course aims to give knowledge on and insight in how the Norwegian educational system has developed in a historical and international comparative perspective.

Learning methods and activities

2 hours of lectures per week for 8 weeks (with assignments on It`s learning) and a 2-day long seminar. Compulsory activity: Participation on the 2-days seminar and on the interactive forum "It's learning". Form of assessment: Essay (12-15 pages).

If less than 10 students sign up for the course it may be cancelled.

Required previous knowledge

Exam in PED 1004, or completed the first three years of teacher training-/pre-school teacher training, or Bachelor Degree and 1 year teacher training.
