Course content
The course offers an introduction to basic questions about praxis and practical action from the perspective of history of philosophy. The course will emphasise practical knowledge and practical wisdom. What kind of knowledge and what repertoire is required in order to be able to read various educational situations and make decisions and take action in a swift and innovative manner? Why do educationists behave differently in various situations even though they have the same education? Concepts like experience, intuition, improvisation, play, creativity will be central in the course.
Learning outcome
The aim of the course is to give students philosophical tools in the study of central pedagogical questions.
Learning methods and activities
Teaching method and activities: 2 hours of lectures per week, 1 hour seminar per week.
Compulsory activity: Written assignment (4-6 pages).
Form of assessment: 4-hour individual written exam.
If less than 10 students sign up for the course it may be cancelled.

Required previous knowledge
Exams in PED1001 or completed the first three years of teacher training-/pre-school teacher training, or Bachelor Degree and 1 year teacher training.
Course materials
There will be 500 pages of obligatory reading.
