About the course

Course content

Fundamentals of metal cutting processes like turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Chip formation, cutting forces, power consumption, and temperatures in metal cutting. Machine tools, tool materials, tool wear, cutting fluids, cutting data, and economical considerations. Surface integrity. Electro discharge machining and electrochemical machining. Machining with laser, electro beam, ultrasound, and water jet.

Learning outcome

Comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge about machining processes.

Colloquiums, theoretical exercises, and laboratory exercises.
