About the course

Course content

This course provides an introduction to the EU as a political system. The course covers the most central theoretical approaches for the study of the European Union, and well as an introduction to various central institutions and policy areas (e.g. economic and monetary policy, foreign and security policy, agricultural policy, etc.)

Learning outcome

This course aims to provide an introduction to the study of the European Union.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars totaling 4 hours per week. Individual advice on term paper.

Form of assessment: Term paper and oral examination. The oral exam covers both the term paper and required reading. The oral exam will be used to adjust the final grade.

If less than 6 students attend the course the two first weeeks of teaching, the course will be given as an individual study course with supervision. Please contact the departement for further information.

Required previous knowledge

82,5 credits specialization in Political Science or European Studies.
