Course content
The course is a compulsory pre-requisite for the practical teacher education (PPU) for students accepted into the five-year Masters teacher education course at NTNU. Together with the subjects in pedagogy, method, curriculum and student classroom teaching, the course will provide the students with the required skills and knowledge for teaching in schools from year 5 through year 13
Learning outcome
During the ex-paed semester the students will be trained in scientific and critical thinking through work on introduction to theories and leadership. Through different methods the students will be qualified to lead and cooperate on learning activities.
The purpose of the course is to motivate the students to complete the five year masters degree in Teacher Education, to stimulate them to reflect on the profession and to develop an inclusive student perspective. The students will encounter several reality oriented learning contexts relevant for their future vocation as teachers
Learning methods and activities
The teaching methods will consist of lectures and group activities linked to the various subjects.
Different methods are used to focus on leadership and learning. During their ex-paed semester the students will learn theories on leadership and learning. They will practise scientific and critical ways of thinking. Through different ways of working and co-operating, the students are given opportunities to lead and cooperate on learning exercises.

Recommended previous knowledge
Students will participate in leadership activities, but these are not compulsory.
Required previous knowledge
The students following the five-year Masters Course in Teacher Education have precedence in the course.
