Course content

The course builds on the basic understanding of quantitative research. This course runs through thoroughly the most used and some advanced statistical methods in psychology using SPSS software. The statistical methods reviewed include mainly ANOVA (different varieties), multiple regression, and exploratory factor analysis. In the review of these methods the emphasis is on what criteria you need to select the appropriate statistical tests, analysis of assumptions and especially interpretations of the results of these tests.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The student has broad and conceptual understanding of the most common statistical tests in psychology.

Skills: Students can enter data into SPSS and analyze and interpret the data independently. The student can present the results in a report.

General competence: Students have developed a critical perspective to consider the possible advantages and disadvantages of the use of different statistical tests and quantitative methods in general.
