About the course

Course content

The course takes up psychological and social factors tied to health and illness, introduces models which enable the student to understand the connection between behaviour and health and discusses factors which can contribute to promoting and maintaining health and prevent illness and injury. The course focuses on subjects such as stress, pain and simply health problems, psychological factors attached to serious illnesses, mastering of stress and pain, social support, life styles, alcohol and drug use, physical training and health and the quality-of-life. Central research methods in health psychology will be presented.

Learning outcome

The course objective is to give a theoretical foundation in the subject matter, practice in carrying out projects in the subject area, and training in the oral presentation of research results.

Teaching method and activities: Lectures and seminars.

The course is reserved for students admitted to a particular programme. Exchange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.
