About the course

Course content

PSYPRO4050 is a basic course in the theory and method of personality psychology. The reading list and teaching will cover the main personality theories including characteristics theories, psychodynamic theories, learning theories, cognitive and humanistic/existential theories and central issues, concepts and empirical research results in selected thematic fields within personality psychology. Inherited and environmental factors will be examined and the dividing line between normal functioning and pathology will be discussed. Scientific personality tests will be demonstrated and their application and practice will be discussed.

Learning outcome

The course will provide students with knowledge of the most important concepts and issues in personality psychology.

Learning methods and activities

Lecture and seminars. Method: Lectures with individual tutorials.

The course requires admission to the 6 year clinical psychologist programme.
