About the course

Course content

In this semester an introduction to clinical neuropsychology will be provided, which relates to In-house Clinical Practice III and focuses on the treatment and rehabilitation of both adults and children. Biological risk factors will be examined and looked at in the light of the importance of environment for later development and the extent of any functional disturbances. Implications for learning, going to school, occupational activity and general functioning will be examined and habilitation work with various problem groups will be an important theme. Teaching that builds further on the general aspects of mental problems in various age groups will also be provided.

Learning outcome

Within the specialist field of neuropsychology, emphasis will be placed on methods of treatment and rehabilitation for both children and adults. The course will provide an introduction to the most important approaches, including various diagnostic methods, within the clinical specialism. Several theoretical models will be examined and related to current therapeutic methods in use in the field.

Lectures, seminars, tutorial guidance in groups.

The course requires admission to the 6 year clinical psychologist programme.
