About the course

Course content

The course provides an introduction to key concepts, central themes, and modes of analysis and methods in Social Anthropology. It also includes the history of Social Anthropology and the theoretical complexity of the discipline. The course is obligatory for all BA students in the Social Sciences, specializing in Social Anthropology.

Learning outcome

To develop basic knowledge about the anthropological approach to social life and cultural variation.

Learning methods and activities

Approx. 24 hours lectures/seminars, 2 day-seminar.
4-hour written exam.
