Course content
The course addresses key themes in social anthropology (structure and agency; self and other; text and context; place and space; global and local; invention and convention).
Learning outcome
To gain proper knowledge of key debates in anthropological theory and method. The main idea is to alert the students to the importance of continuity in anthropological thoughts, thereby enabling and inspiring them to relate their own research projects to these broader macro themes.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures/seminars (approx. 36 hours).
The course is reserved for students admitted to a particular programme ("studierettskrav"). Exhange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.
6-hour written exam.
