About the course

Course content

This course consists of independent research in the form of ethnographic fieldwork that will form the basis for the Master’s dissertation. If the student writes a theoretical dissertation, library research or other methods of data collection forms part of this course. At the end of the fieldwork the students write a field report providing an overview of the work that has been carried out, with a proposal for further work to be undertaken as part of the dissertation.
Deadline for field report: 1. August

Learning outcome

To develop basic skills in participatory observation and systematic data production.

Learning methods and activities

Field work (6 months).
Approved fieldwork report.
The course is reserved for students admitted to a particular programme ("studierettskrav"). Exhange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Sosialantropologi (MSANT)

Required previous knowledge

SANT3000 and SANT 3001 or SANT3000 and SANT3100 and approved literature review.
