About the course

Course content

The course gives a survey on different historical, ideological and theoretical perspectives on disability. Emphasis will be put on recent research closely linked to social politics and everyday life. The course will address different current issues and is therefore likely to change from one course to the next.

Learning outcome

This course is designed to give the student insight into different conceptions of disability, consequences for research and the link to politics.

Learning methods and activities

Teaching method and activities: Lectures, seminars and written assignment.
Compulsory activity: Approved topic and curriculum for term paper.
Form of assessment: Term paper with individually selected topic.The term paper is of around 15 pages.

  • Approved subject and reading list within november 1st

Required previous knowledge

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Social Work, Health Sciences or Social Sciences.

Course materials

The reading list is 600-800 pages, of which 250 pages are individually selected and come in addition to the reading list of SARB3506.
