About the course

Course content

This course offers insight into the main strands of sociological theory. These are exemplified and actualized through a discussion of recent debates and research questions. The term paper will be an independent analysis of a topic discussed in class.

Learning outcome

To provide the students with a basic insight into sociological theories and present a scientific framework for sociological research.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars. Compulsory activity: One mandatory group project.
Forms of assessment: A 6 hour written exam and the term paper. Each part counts half of the grade. If you fail or want to take the exam again, you have to take both parts.

Required previous knowledge

82,5 credits in sociology or equivalent.
