About the course

Course content

The students are introduced to analyses of different types of qualitative data. Through examples of qualitative studies and practical exercises the students will learn to reflect over their own and others’ theoretical positions, designs, data and analysis.

Learning outcome

The course provides theoretical and practical knowledge of how to analyse qualitative data. It aims to give an understanding of the relationship between theory, design, strategic sampling, analysis and generalization.

Learning methods and activities

The course will be given as workshops, with activities in groups between the workshops. Form of assessment: Groupwise termpaper.

Compulsory assignments

  • participation in lectures, presentations and comments

Required previous knowledge

SOS1000, SOS1001, SOS1002 and SOS3004 or equivalent.
