About the course

Course content

The thesis is normally chosen within one of the research areas of Section for statistics. The work with the thesis will normally be spread over two semesters, namely third and fourth semester of the master study. One is advised to choose courses that support the special area for the thesis work. At the same time one should be aware of the broadness requirements.

Learning outcome

The objective with the thesis work is to give the student a deeper understanding and insight into a specific statistical topic, and also to train the student in independent scientific work.

Learning methods and activities

Self study of relevant scientific articles and books, under guidance of thesis advisor. An option will also be to give seminars on the achieved results.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Statistikk (MST)

Required previous knowledge

The thesis work presupposes that the candidate has taken relevant courses in the first and second semester of the master study, supporting the special area for the thesis.
