Course content
This course offers an in-depth introduction to Swahili grammar and oral use, translation and language comprehension. The course includes exercises in reading and translating to and from Swahili based on texts that cover political, social and cultural topics. This course may be included in the Bachelor program in African studies.
Learning outcome
The goal of the course is to give students a deeper introduction to Swahili grammar and oral practice as well as further practice in translation, comprehension and essay writing, to build up the competence of students in such a way that they can use the language for advanced tasks and more complex communication in daily life.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and practical exercises in oral and written skills.
More on assessment: Obligatory exercises must be approved before students are allowed to take the written and oral exam. The size of the essay must be between 200-300 words.
