About the course

Course content

The course includes econometric methods to analyse panel data and micro data. Different methods to take care of unobserved heterogeneity between individuals will be presented. An introduction to methods relevant for analyses of discrete choice and selected samples will be given. Applications of the methods will be emphasized.

Learning outcome

The students should be able to handle central econometric methods for analysing panel data. In addition, the students should have knowledge of econometric methods used to analyse micro data, including the handling of discrete choice and selection. The students should be able to apply the econometric methods to specific problems.

Learning methods and activities

4 hours of lectures every week. One compulsory term paper. The course can be taught in English when there are English-speaking students who meet the recommended previous knowledge.
The course is an optional master's course, and it is not taught every semester. Check www.ntnu.no/econ/english/info.
